What a contrast from Sydney. A flat course, and very frigid temperatures. For me it was same old hardwork to finish. Good news is that I was little faster than Sydney, I think 4:44 hrs. Well 5 continents down 2 more to go, I am looking forward to a little break. Full details to follow.

Now this is more like it! Two to go, that sounds really really interesting, would be great when you get there, and then maybe some more new goals. Keep going!

    Rahul,
now George and I WANT full details of how you became a marathon runner and I personally want to know how long it takes to convert a person from a reasonably fit 40+ year old habitual WALKER (not a runner) to a marathon runner. I am asking because I thought about it myself.
Have you just decided one day you were going to do it and went for it or somebody suggested it and you got "hooked"? Did it suck really bad at first to train? Because you have to put some serious miles down.

Sorry Lana for not getting back earlier.
I started running a long time back. However, it was only after attending a meeting on Preventive Cardiology at the Mayo Clinic (Fall of 2006) realised that I had to push harder to get my own lipids in order. All physicians attending the meeting had been given the option to get their lipid profiles done. I had always been an indoor runner doing some miles here and there on my Precor Tread mill which I bought in your neighbourhood Wynnewood on the recommendation of Dr.Kasparian, a famous cardiologist (George knows him well). With the new resolution I started running more consistently and finished a 10K run in Spring of 2007. Progressed to a half Marathon in fall and then set a goal to run a Full marathon in Spring of 2008 in Paris. So the process was gradual but surprisingly it is very much possible for almost anyone to train and complete a Marathon. Few tips , subscribe to Runner's World Magazine. This will serve as a good resource as you will be hungry for information. Do not run more then 3 times a week, this will prevent any major injuries and lastly set a goal and just stick with it. Good Luck.
